Every week each restaurant will be visited by Raymond's panel of "inspectors". Raymond Blanc will then select the three restaurants he judges to be the worst performing and they are given a tough specific challenge. Each restaurant must prove that they are good enough to stay open or else they close and their dream lies in ashes. By the end of the series just one couple and one restaurant will be left. Will it be Laura and Peter from The Welsh Wok? Look out for Chemex products on the The Restaurant which is on BBC2 at 8pm every Wednesday and Thursday. Watch Series 2: Flags of the World on the BBC iPlayer and see if you can spot our products. The idea behind The Welsh Wok is based on a mix of Chinese and Welsh cooking. Laura Scale and Peter Dong, both from Cardiff, are one of the nine couples competing in this series of The Restaurant. During the 15 part series Laura and Peter will be given the keys to an empty restaurant which they must launch and run. Gradually competitors are elminated and only one couple will remain. The prize for the lucky couple is the chance to run their own business in partnership with Raymond Blanc. Peter does have previous experience in running a restaurant. He joint owned a Chinese takeaway for a number of years. Laura, originally from West Wales, brings the best of Welsh cuisine to the partnership. Laura admits to being a worrier and control freak, and interestingly, lists cleaning as one of her hobbies. Chemex have always been known for the exceptionally high quality of its products so it comes as no surprise that the company were singled out as the preferred supplier.Both Laura and Peter are keen cooks and their family life revolves around socialising and eating food with family and friends. The Welsh Wok will provide high quality rustic food in a comfortable and relaxed environment. The couple are ambitious and out to impress Raymond. They certainly have the commitment and determination. The series not only scrutinises the quality of the food, but it also looks at every other aspect of running a restaurant business from service to business acumen. Peter Ridge ( franchisee in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire area ) has been supplying 'The Welsh Wok', one of the restaurants competing in the BBC2show The Restaurant which gives 9 couples the chance to win their very own restaurant which will be financially backed and personally supported by Raymond Blanc.The Restaurant features couples, some of whom have little or no experience other than cooking at home and throwing dinner parties, but whose dream it is to run their own eatery. They have to create their perfect restaurant and then open the doors to the paying public.
