Chemex International Franchisees - October 2008
A gathering of 4 of the Chemex International team took place in October. The overseas visitors represented Denmark, Ireland, Malta and Cyprus. Several guest speakers from both within Chemex and externally, spoke on variousl topics relating to business overseas and the expansion of overseas markets. The group consists of established overseas master licensees. These are successful businesses that have been built over a number of years by local entrepreuners who understand their local marketplace. Chemex Malta is headed by husband and wife team Mario and Sandra Fava, Ireland is represented by Colm Clarke and Cyprus by Andreas Protopapas, a keen Chelsea football club supporter. Denmark owner John Lindgaard also brought one of his franchisees, Orla Kristensen, with him to the meeting. Staff at Chemex thoroughly enjoyed the visit which gave them chance to meet up with the overseas franchisees and chat with them over lunch and between breaks on the two day event held at the Chemex head office in Smethwick. The general consensus of opinion seemed to be that events such as this should be organised on a more regular basis. Andreas suggested that the next one be held in Cyprus. Now that is a nice thought. The sharing of ideas and discussions between international representatives was informative, very useful for everyone, and extremely positive and constructive. We look forward to the next international meeting and wish everyone a successful year and an even more fruitful 2009.

In The Spotlight– New Protect Pro Handcare Range for 2008
This year Chemex are launching four complementary products to cater for all your handcare needs. If you would like more information about this new range please contact your local franchisee. Poor hand hygiene is one of the most common means of transmission for pathogens such as E. coli and MRSA. But hand hygiene isn’t just vital for healthcare staff. Many infections can be passed between hands and food or hands and surfaces. Many bacteria can continue to survive on surfaces such as worktops and door handles while they wait for you to pick them up. Good hand hygiene is critical when preparing food, before meals and snacks, after using the toilet, when hands are generally dirty or when you or someone around you is ill.

Mark Jones - National Sales Manager We are very pleased to announce that Mark Jones has joined Chemex as our new National Account Sales Manager. Mark comes to us with extensive industry experience having worked on sales in the past with some major competitors, including Zenith. He knows the product, the applications and the customers, he’s also reasonably fit, being a lot younger than the existing sales department staff, so he can get around and out in the field very soon. Mark will look after existing national account contracts and will be responsible for any key account contract deemed fairly accurately to be worth, in retail sales value, in excess of £30,000 per annum.
Paul Stairmand - Field Support ManagerTo ensure that Chemex has the right support in the field, we have appointed a new Field Support Manager, Paul Stairmand. As well as working closely with our franchisees in the field, Paul will bring his previous marketing skills and experience and work closely with Kirti Patel on marketing projects that will be of benefit to the whole network. Paul previously worked for Prontaprint, essentially a franchised network of print on demand centres, so Paul is familiar with franchising and helping franchisees to develop their businesses. Prior to working at Prontaprint Paul was a Marketing Executive at Jungle.com, ( which was purchased by the Argos Retail Group ). Paul is about to get married to Natalie at the end of August and is looking forward to his honeymoon in Lake Garda, Italy.

Focus on MaltaChemex has been established in Malta since 1997. Originally under the ownership of three partners, Mario Fava subsequently took over the business five years later. Trading under the name of Fava Catering Services Ltd, this is very much a family owned business which is now over ten years old. The company has recently moved into new and larger premises.
Today, Fava Catering Supplies retain the majority of its clients through excellent service and reliability. We supply Chemex products to a large number of hotels in Malta and Gozo, including well known restaurants, pubs, nursing homes, schools and other prestigious establishments where quality is of major importance.
In the majority of cases, the clients we acquire, remain with us on a long term basis. The reason behind this is, without a shadow of a doubt, the company's efficiency and aftersales service.
Fava Catering Ltd is proud of its commitment to customer service and the quality of its products. Our customers have grown with us over the years and we never forget the importance of each and every local business that we supply. Our clients remain with us because we pay attention to the customer and our after sales service is what makes us stand out from the competition.
Our reputation in Malta is second to none and our staff work together with the same common goal - to ensure that we continue to strive towards perfection in every aspect of our business.
