Whilst few of the products in this group present a fire hazard, they should still be used away from naked flames and red heat sources, nor should smoking be allowed in the areas where they are being used. This is because the chlorinated materials present in these products can break down high temperatures giving rise to toxic vapors.

Safe Handling

1 Do not take by mouth.
2 Avoid inhalation of vapors and spray mists. Use only in well ventilated areas.
3 Avoid skin contact. Wear protective clothing (including gloves)
4 Avoid eye contact. Wear goggles to prevent splashes entering the eyes.

 

 

5 Do not use in the vicinity of naked flames or red heat sources. Do not allow smoking in the areas where these products are being used.

First Aid- In the event of


6 Swallowing - Give plenty of water or milk to drink and induce vomiting. Administer more liquid and seek immediate medical attention.
7 Exposure to fumes and spray vapours - Remove affected person to fresh air and keep warm. Seek medical attention if badly affected. Apply artificial respiration if necessary.
8 Skin contact - Irrigate thoroughly with clean water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention for any adverse effects.
9 Storage - Store containers away from extremes of temperatures and in such a position to minimize damage.
10 Spillages - Because of the potential toxic vapor hazard, spillages should be dealt with immediately. Wash away small spillages with water. Larger spillages should be absorbed in sand, sawdust or granules, then collected and placed in oil drums.
