Products in this group are alkaline, having ph values greater than <12. They should therefore be treated as caustic materials. With the exception of certain fuel additiives in this group, the products are non-flammable.

Safe Handling

1 Do not take by mouth

2 If sprayed, ensure adequate ventilation,

3 Avoid skin contact; particularly with the neat material. Wear protective gloves.

4 Avoid eye contact; wear goggles to prevent splashes entering the eyes.

First Aid - In the event of:

5 Swallowing - Discourage vomiting, give plenty of water or milk to drink and seek medical attention.

6 Exposure to spary vapours - Remove affected person to fresh air. In cases of prolonged effect, seek medical attention.

7 Skin Contact - Irrigate thoroughly with clean water. Seek immediate medical attention.

8 Storage - Do not store at extremes of temperature. Ensure that containers are stored in such a position as to minimise the risk of damage.

9 Spillages - Treat immediately by hosing away with cold water or by absorbing with sand , sawdust or absorbent granules and disposing of in waste bin.
