Chemex International is looking to expand its overseas network as a result of increased demand for its cleaning and hygiene products. The company is already established in Malta, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium and Cyprus.  Ideally Chemex would like to see further developments in the Middle East, Asia and Western Europe. The European arm needs to expand into Germany, Holland, Portugal and Spain. These are the markets that Chemex has identified as suitable for European expansion. Other countries are also being considered but it is important to be aware of local issues, transportation costs and local manufacturing capacity when considering a new overseas territory. Cost is an important factor in any overseas operation.International business throughout 2007 grew by more than 20 per cent following the introduction of new products and increased public awareness. We receive a lot of enquiries from overseas but many of these are unrealistic. Some are competitors looking for information or individuals who are just enquiring out of interest. Occassionally we find small to medium sized companies that are looking for new opportunities. It is important that an overseas investor has the funds with which to set up a master franchise in their own country.  A master franchisor will replicate the success of the Chemex franchise in the UK. This means that the investor will need to have the necessary premises, business acumen and experience ( not necessarily in cleaning and hygiene products ) of running a business.
